NCDC Playoff Preview: South Shore Kings vs. Islanders Hockey Club

Foxboro, Ma. - The South Shore Kings are moving on to the New England Divisional Finals after a 2-0 sweep of the Utica Jr. Comets. The Kings will meet up against familiar foe, Islanders HC in the 5-game series. 

The two teams finished in the top 2 spots of the New England Division coming down to the very last game to decide the seedings. The regular season head-to-head match-up gave the Kings the upper hand going 5-2-1 against IHC but trailed behind by 1 point in the standings. 

Both teams are coming off a 2-0 sweep in their first series with the Kings beating Utica, and the Islanders taking care of the Boston Jr. Bruins.

South Shore is led by Kotaro Murase's 5-point first round recording 2 goals and 3 assists, one of the goals being the Overtime series-clinching goal in game 2. Justin Ryan, Aiden Lindley, Jack DesRuisseaux and Jayson Zaccari all fall behind Murase with 2 points heading into the series. On the other side, Tikhon Ashikhmin led IHC with 4 points and Alexei Filmonovo recorded 3 points in round 1.

Ryan Keyes hasn't cooled down between the pipes yet recording a 2-0 record in round 1 facing 53 shots and recording 50 saves posting a .943 save %. Ean Badgett has had similar success for the Islanders going 2-0 in round 1 with 45 saves on 48 shots having a .938 save %. 

The 5-game series will start Tuesday April 2nd at Skate 3 Arena in Tyngsboro, Ma. with a 2:00 PM puck drop.
