All player will register at 6:00pm on Friday April 19, 2013 at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Players will be required to fill out a tryout application and the USA hockey consent to treat/medical form if you haven’t done so already. Both of these will be available at check in. Players are also required to register with USA Hockey for the 2013-2014 season. Follow the directions below for online registration.

Go to www.usahockey.com and click on ‘register online’.
Enter your HOME address (US and Canada).
Each participant will pay the $40 USA Hockey fee and their home state Affiliate fee if there is one.
All major credit and debit cards are accepted as well as Visa gift cards.
Bring, send or email your confirmation page/number to each Team/Program (Junior, Youth or Adult) that you participate with.

United States Premier Hockey League

Announces Junior Division

The United States Premier Hockey League announced today it will operate as an independent junior league in 2013-14, instead of its previously announced intention to operate as an adult league within USA Hockey. The USPHL intends to submit application materials to USA Hockey with the objective to begin playing as a certified junior league in 2014-15.

The USPHL will sponsor three levels of hockey overall, including 16U and 18U Midgets, in addition to Juniors. The teams in the 16U and 18U Midget Divisions will remain registered through their respective USA Hockey Affiliate organizations and will play under USA Hockey Rules for league play.
“It’s important to us to have an affiliation with USA Hockey and after hearing the legitimate concerns related to our plan to operate as an adult league, we felt that the best way forward was to go down the path we’ve announced today,” said Richard Gallant. “While we’ll play outside of USA Hockey for our Junior division, all of our players will be members of the organization and play under its rules. We’ll also consult with USA Hockey to provide for the proper player protection rights, player safety, the registering of import players and other matters the USPHL believes are critical in administering and executing the league.”

The USPHL members have each developed a complete player development model where, at present, over 2,000 boys and girls train, compete and enjoy the sport of ice hockey. These programs go beyond the on-ice experience to include education, leadership and community service components to help foster a complete student-athlete. The member organizations believe the USPHL will provide the next step in high performance training and competition and will provide unmatched exposure to NCAA hockey programs for young aspiring hockey players.

Tryouts for the USPHL will continue to occur throughout the month of April. The USPHL will commence competition in September of 2013. Please visit the USPHL website at www.usphl.com or the member organizations for specific information regarding the registration and tryout process.

Kings Announce 2012-2013 Empire

and U14 EHF Coach

The South Shore Kings are pleased to announce that Ryan McGrath has joined the coaching staff as the U14 Coach. Coach Ryan McGrath just wrapped up a four year stint as the top assistant
coach at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Coach McGrath was also the recruiting coordinator and defensive coach. During his tenure at UMASS, the Beacons enjoyed their most successful seasons since 81-82. They were constantly ranked in the top 15 in the country and produced many all conference performers.

Coach McGrath recruited 3 former South Shore Kings in Rob Florentino, Peter MacIntyre and Derek
Colucci. Coach McGrath has also had success at the midget level coaching the Tier 1 Rhode Island Saints U16 AAA team the last three years. During the 11-12 season the Saints won the Mass Select League, New England Tier 1 Regional Tournament and was a quarter-finalist at the USA Hockey Tier 1 Midget Nationals before losing to eventual champion Long Island Royals.

For the past two years Coach McGrath has been the co-chair person on the Mass Hockey Player Development Committee in charge of the Boys player Development. His responsibilities included over seeing the tryouts and player selection for the USA select 15,16 & 17 camp as well as player selection, staffing and on ice curriculum for the Mass Hockey Cunniff Development Camp at Cushing Academy.

Coach McGrath has also evaluated at the Rocky Mountain District Camp as well as the Rhode Island Yankee Conference, Florida and Arizona Development Camps. During the summer months, Coach McGrath is a head on-ice instructor at the Bill Belisle Hockey School at the Mount Saint Charles Academy and owns an operates the Boston Hockey Club Tournament teams.
