Kings at the Prep 2006
ISL Champions Nobles was led by a host of South Shore
Kings Alums. Ryan McGuire (86) (Marist/ Baseball) tied for the scoring
with Chris Huxley (87) (RPI). Making major contributions were super
forward Jimmy Hayes (89), Mike Griffin (88), Trip Wray (88), Nick
Rescor (88), Derek Pallis (89) and 8th grade sensation Mark Hourihan
(91).
Over at St. Sebastian's the Arrows featured Erik Lake
(88), Mike Hoban (89) and Connor Toomey (89). At Salisbury the top
rank prep school team in New England, Greg Collins (86) (Providence)
is having a great year along with Paul Carey (88). At power hour
Taft, Corey Griffin (86) (Boston College) is having a great season
at center.
Thayer Academy suited up Austin Collins (88), superstar
Brian Gibbons (88) (Boston College) Mike Baran (89), Brian McGuire
(89). Roxbury Latin top scoring forward was senior John Spatola (87).
Freshman Chris Wagner (91) saw some action for tournament bound Xaverian.
Mike Hambleton (88) and Michael Shakespeare (89) manned the blue
line for GDA while Sean Whitney (89) played defense for the prep
power Cushing Academy. Justin Gates (88) had a great year in goal
for Lawrence Academy and Billy Besinger (87) had a great year at
B.C. High. The Kings continue their tradition of making a major difference
at the High School level in 2006.
Kings in the Bean Pot 2006
The Kings have a 20 year tradition of having former
players on all four Bean Pot Teams and this years classic was no
different. No youth hockey organization in America has supplied more
players to Bean Pot schools than the Kings. Brian Boyle (84) (LA
Kings) led Boston College with fellow Kings Joe Rooney (85) and Anthony
Aiello (86) (Minnesota Wild).Over at Northeastern, the Huskies are
led by Michael Morris (83) (San Jose Sharks), Jimmy Russo (85), Aaron
Moore (85) and Ryan Ginand (86). Boston University has had a host
of former Kings over the years. This year Steve Smolinsky (86) is
a freshman right wing. The Harvard Crimson highlight two King freshman,
Nick Coskren (86) at wing and Mike Coskren (84) at Goalie. Over the
past few years, the Kings Bean Pot line up has included BU's Brian
McConnell (83) (Phoenix), Ryan Whitney (83) (Pittsburgh), and Steve
Greeley (82) and Northeastern's Donny Grover (83) and Harvard's Robbie
Flynn (83). Kings Bean Pot future watch includes Brian Gibbons (88)
who has committed to BC for the 2007 season.
Kings in the NHL 2006
Ryan Whitney (83) (B.U) is taking a regular shift
on defense for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Mike Morrison (79) (Maine)
has cracked the Edmonton Oilers line up as the #2 goaltender.
Kings in Hockey East 2006
Brian Yandle (83) is the captain at UNH and he is
joined by Chris Murray (84) a defenseman from Dover. Billy Ryan (85)
(NY Rangers) is a sophomore center at Maine. Pierce Norton (85) (Toronto
Maple Leaf) is a freshman forward at Providence. At Boston University
Steve Smolinsky (86) is playing wing.
Kings in Ivy League 2006
Chris Poli (85) and Seth Seidmen (86) are both sophomore
play forward for the Brown Bears.. Mike Coskren (84) and Nick Coskren
(86) are both freshman and are both suiting up for Harvard. Matt
Nelson (86) in a freshman forward at Yale while while Eric Pridham
(85) is a sophomore center at Princeton.
Kings in NESCAC 2006
Jack Greeley (84) is this years captain at Amherst
and he is joined by Brendan Powers (86). Over at Tufts, Phil Clark
(86) joined by Greg McCarthy (86). Greg Goldman (85) is a sophomore
defenseman at Wesleyan while Adam Marino (85) is a sophomore forward
at Colby. Colin Grenalgh (84) is a junior defenseman at Williams.
