Six Kings in the Show in 2008!

The South Shore Kings have had more kids drafted by NHL teams than any AAA organization in the country, but this season has been unprecedented as six of our alumni were all playing in the NHL in January.  Ryan Whitney 83’/BU (Scituate) (53 GP-11/17-28 pts) quarterbacks the high powered power play of the Pittsburg Penguins playing with super stars Sydney Crosby & Evgeni Malkin.  Ryan’s brother Sean 89’ is heading to Cornell next year and is a great 6’5” D candidate for this Junes Draft.  Mike Ryan 80’/NU (Milton) is taking a regular shift for the Buffalo Sabres (44 GP – 4/4 – 8pts). Mike Mottau 78’/BC (Stoughton) (51 GP-3/11-14 pts) is the Kings only Hobey Baker Award winner, and he has been taking a regular shift with the N.J. Devils.  Also from the same 78’ Kings Team comes Bobby Allen BC (Randolph) (15 GP) who has taken regular shifts in 15 games for the Boston Bruins up until suffering a concussion.  Brian Boyle 84’/BC (Hingham) scored 3 goals in his first 4 games playing for the Los Angeles Kings.  Brian is the first South Shore King to stay a King all the way to the NHL!  Lastly, Keith Yandle 86’ (Milton) (22 GP-3/3-6 pts) is taking a regular shift for Wayne Gretzky’s Phoenix Coyotes.

Other King’s playing well in the AHL and ECHL are Joe Rooney 85’ (Canton), Carl Corrizzini 81’ (Framingham), and Adam Pineamlt 86’.  As mentioned above Sean Whitney 89’/Cornell, along with Jimmy Hayes 89’/BC, and Derrick Pallis 89/Princeton are all high on the NHL’s Central Scouting list for this year’s draft.
